We all love a bit of sparkle, there is nothing better than a hint of glitter to enhance a makeup look. Over the years many have strayed away from glitter, apart from over the festive period of Christmas and New Years, but with the growing popularity of festivals the glitter trends continue to grow.

Glitter can be worn on the eyes, face, body and even hair! Make-up artists are increasing creativity by venturing out into more intense, colourful and sparkly looks, proving the endless possibilities of how glitter can be worn. Festival season now spans across all of the summer, with festivals being held regularly all over the world. Each year new trends emerge and social media is bombarded with creative ideas, hints and tips on how to dress and style yourself for a festival. This year it is all about the glitter, sparkle and shine!

Don’t be scared away from the thought of too much glitter, this trend can also be done in moderation. A small amount of glitter where you would usually highlight around the tear duct area is enough to make the eyes pop, or a simple smokey eye with a hint of shimmer across the lid.

However if you are daring enough to go all out, the possibilities are endless. From glitter eyeshadows, eyeliners, shimmery bases, body glitter to hair glitter and everything in between.

This makeup look shows model, Stef Green wearing glitter on the cheek bones and temples. Starting with a blusher to create a light base of colour and placing a shimmer over the blusher creates a guideline of wear to place the glitter. Then using a glitter priming base around this area to ensure the glitter sticks and stays in place. When creating this look various glitters were used to create an iridescent feel to the look, as light reflects off different parts of the glitter it shows the range of colours used. Starting with lighter glitters first and gradually building up more colour, this ensures that the colours are not too harsh and clumpy, instead they blend together nicely. Teamed with a minimal orange rounded eye makeup, natural lashes (Mollie Cosmetics MC3D1) and pink lips this makeup is wearable throughout the festival season.
